About Brett Conklin

Currently a Web Design and Development student pursuing work opportunities to expand my skills and get my foot into the Tech Industry. I have a working knowledge of HTML and CSS and version control using GitHub. Strong knowledge of MySQL. Currently in classes learning Javascript, Python, C# with object oriented programming languages and Linux via Ubuntu. Regarding design I have strong working knowledge and practice using Adobe products such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and moderate exposure to Adobe XD. In my free time I am completing LinkedIn-Learning courses for Figma and will be doing the same for Sketch once I exhaust the Figma courses. Professionally, I have worked as a System Administrator for Vivint Smarthome, completing and generating work orders, monitoring queues, managing scheduling systems, vacation time, workers comp, trainings etc. I worked with several departments to coordinate travel, both accommodations and expenses. Currently, I work for Salt Lake Express as a Corporate Safety Officer. I have spearheaded multiple departments at different times in my time at SLE. I trained our current payroll team in payroll processes and software. I worked under the VP to build spreadsheets for logging customer complaints into data sets to improve coaching and overall employee improvement and customer satisfaction. I currently lead our cameras team in which my responsibilities have been to train other employees in our facial recognition system, build employee profiles to monitor performance for coaching purposes, keep a log of all vehicle and device associations and work to maintain all cameras in working order and repairing and cameras that might be down or having software issues. I believe through my work and my education I have obtained invaluable skills to help me in any problem solving environment and be a team member that can not only contribute, reenforce and support any pre-established team. I am a hard worker and pursuit of my education is further enhancing the skills I already bring to the table. I hope as I continue in my education, I am able to find opportunities to take a step into the technology industry and get real, practical experience. I wish to grow with and be able to give back to employers that are willing to take me on help me improve!
