About Brett Gershon

An active member of the Catholic Worker movement for over a decade, my passion lies at the nexus of education, community organizing, and mutual-aid. No longer active in the Catholic Worker, I carry these values with me into my work regardless of what that work might be. I am a highly curious "jack of all trades" who is capable of picking up and applying new skills on the fly. I enjoy work in which I am constantly challenged to learn new things and apply new skills. Currently, I manage a wide variety of administrative projects with a brilliant team of international programs advisors at IU's Kelley School of Business in Bloomington Indiana. I excel in learning new software applications and have developed some budding skills in coding and front-end web-development. I have over 10 years of experience in online content development with working knowledge of SEO protocols. On the people side, I am experienced in volunteer training and coordination, teaching, and community building/organizing. Much of my work within the Catholic Worker tradition—where I located my vocation for over a decade—was as a social worker of a personalist kind. In this work, I came alongside and lived in community with unhoused and housing insecure people as they worked to transform their circumstances. Though difficult to quantify, the work I carried out here is among my proudest achievements. Moving into the next stage of life, I’m confident that the values I’ve held close and the skills I’ve cultivated will bring me into doing good work.
