About Brett Ing

Growing up, I was naturally curious about people, often observing their behaviors and analyzing the motivations behind them. This fascination with understanding human behavior led me to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources. I became particularly interested in organizational behavior, recruitment and selection, and training and development. After graduating, I spent nearly four years as an HR Generalist, where I honed my skills in aligning human resource management with the needs of the civil construction and maintenance industry. My career took an exciting turn when I decided to broaden my horizons and gain more life experience. I moved to Japan, where I taught English at a high school for two years. This experience ignited my passion for working with youth and exploring cross-cultural dynamics. Upon returning home, I committed myself to serving my local community as a Youth Program Coordinator in a non-profit focused on gender equity, and I volunteered as a youth mentor. This role deepened my understanding of the importance of meeting people where they are and providing tailored support. Today, I aim to bridge my diverse experiences with my personal curiosity, empathy, and desire to learn as a career advisor in post-secondary education. Outside of work, you’ll find me training in kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, playing real-time strategy games, or re-watching episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender. I'm currently diving into The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey.
