BRETT PETER LINN, ESQ, now retired from the active practice of law, was a longtime practitioner in Putnam County, New York, who focused primarily on "Of Counsel" and associate motion practice, appeals and estate litigation work with other attorneys. He was the Court Attorney to New York State Supreme Court Justice Honorable Joseph G. Owen, J.S.C. from April 1992 through December 2009; as well as Court Attorney to several other New York State Supreme Court Justices and a law assistant in the Appellate Division, Second Department. In addition to being a solo practitioner, Brett has been a partner in the law firm of Singleton and Linn in Mount Kisco, New York and an associate attorney in several personal injury firms. Currently, Brett works in a part-time research only capacity with the National Legal Research Group based in Charlottesville, Virginia. He is a Past President of the New York State Dispute Resolution Association (“NYSDRA”), as well as the former ADR Coordinator of Orange County, and was actively involved in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (“ADR”) for many years. Brett was also an Adjunct Professor with the business department at Orange County Community College in Middletown, New York from September to December 2011. In addition to earning a JD, Magna Cum Laude from New York Law School in 1984, Brett’s background includes a Masters Degree and teaching experience in Special Education, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy. He has authored or co-authored several articles, including "Surviving a Non-Surgical Disc Injury Threshold Motion", NYSTLA Bill of Particulars, Vol 1, 2014 (co-authored with Greg M. Sobo, Esq.); “Confidentiality in Private Mediation: Hauzinger v Hauzinger”, NYSBA Labor and Employment Law Section Newsletter, Fall/Winter 2007; and “Appropriate Conflict Management: Towards a Meta-Process”, published in the 19th Edition of the Fordham Urban Law Journal’s ADR & the Law.
