About Brett Prussack

I am a self-motivated, practical, and productive graduate student pursuing a masters degree in mechanical engineering. I have a passion for problem solving using hands-on fabrication and rapid prototyping skills, computational modeling tools, and a creative mindset. I’m determined to apply my knowledge to a fulfilling and meaningful field where I can see my efforts make a difference. My interests include renewable energy generation and storage, electric vehicles, and next generation semi-conductors. My work as a graduate research assistant focuses on design and fabrication of test fixtures used to deposit large scale, aligned arrays of carbon nanotube for fabrication of next generation semi-conductors. I use fluid modeling to better understand and control the fluids used during depositions. My work also requires detailed micro and nano-scale imaging and analysis of nanotube arrays, with which I utilize image analysis tools to measure and quantify alignment and film quality. My graduate studies are funded by a fellowship through the University of Wisconsin Makerspace, where I act as an assistant manager. The space manages and maintains rapid prototyping equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, waterjets, CNC routers, and more. I work directly with engineering students offering design and fabrication advice for research, class and personal projects.
