The first thing I learned as an apprentice at Tanfield Metal Spinners was to form dished ends and hemispheres. I then went on to learn to form more complicated parts using different metals and working to different client specifications. I’ve worked my way up the ladder and enjoyed training new apprentices coming into the company. These days I’m taking all my knowledge from the shop floor, hands on metal spinning, and am now working with our clients on the technical sales team to help them get the best parts and customer service that we can provide. Founded in 1984, Tanfield Metal Spinners is a fully automated specialist metal spinner capable of spinning most types of metals and shapes required by today’s leading manufacturers. Based in Washington, the company has the largest selection of tooling in the UK and has invested heavily in automation and robotics in recent years.
