About Bria Virgil Brown

Bria Virgil is a 28-year-old Black ciswoman native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She relocated to Houston, Texas summer of 2019. Bria earned a bachelor's degree in Communication and a master's degree in Public Administration, concentrating in Health Administration, both from the University of Louisiana Monroe. She founded a non-profit organization called Pretty with a Purpose which aims to empower girls through the art of pageantry. In her leisure time, Bria competes in pageants. She has a noteworthy pageantry career, including holding the inaugural national Miss Black Empowerment title. Additionally, Bria is an active member of the Houston NAACP branch and sits on the board of Generation Vote. With over five years in the non-profit sector, Bria has dedicated my career to building the power of youth & intentionally underserved communities and building development processes for Texas nonprofits. Bria's most successful project includes working for Youth Rise Texas as Co-executive Director. With organizing roots that began in 2014 with Louisiana NAACP and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certifications, Bria works through the lens of creating belonging in the nonprofit sector. Her strengths include discipline, focus, restorative, deliberative, and futuristic-minded. These are just a few personal qualities that have allowed her to become an effective leader who wants nothing more than to continue learning.
