About Brian Acker

I have a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and I am a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 30 years of experience in the financial management field most recently as Chief Financial Officer. I recently completed the FP Canada Certified Financial Planner final exam and will continue to move towards receiving the Designation (CFP). I have extensive experience in the area of health care and municipal government. In both of these areas I have been extensively involved in the budgeting, financial reporting and financial management areas. I have the ability to objectively look at financial objectives and determine ways to reach these goals. I have always attempted to facilitate as much as possible in providing the financial support necessary to deliver the organization's programs and services while maintaining good fiscal management. I have developed excellent interpersonal skills that have aided my ability to work with all levels of management and have the ability to present fiscal plans both verbally and in written form. In addition, to my financial management capabilities I am also a skilled administrator who manages a staff of 26 in the Financial Services Department of the City of Moose Jaw. My recent pursuit of education related to the Certified Financial Planner Designation will further broaden my financial expertise. I am the Chair of the City of Moose Jaw Investment Committee and Trustee of the City of Moose Jaw Pension Board.
