About Brian Alwin

I am a serial entrepreneur having co-founded three operating businesses with my wife and business partner, Kimberly: A Smooth Move -(established 2006) a moving company specializing in the needs of older adults (Rochester, Austin and Twin Cities); Airport Mini Storage -(established 2014) Austin/Albert Lea's first climate-controlled storage facility; and Med City Handyman Services (Rochester). I enjoy helping other entrepreneurial owners, gaining the freedom from working in their business so they can work on their business is the key to moving the organization further, faster. This is my mission as a business advisor. My experience comes business ownership and a previous career with Fortune 100 companies in manufacturing engineering, information technology, quality systems, customer service, transportation, and facilities management. My last position in private industry was leading the information systems department for a $300MM manufacturing division of TRW Automotive. Servant leadership is an important component to how I live my life. My return to the community is through SCORE, the nation’s largest all-volunteer force that helps coach budding entrepreneurs and seasoned business owners. Most recently my responsibility has been serving as Regional Vice-President for nine states, stretching from Minnesota to Alaska. I am a graduate of Winona State University and enjoy a range of hobbies from amateur radio, classic automobiles, and, alongside my wife Kimberly – hiking and camping – be it summer or winter!
