About Brian Bergeron

Working at Tufts Medical Center since 2015 has been the backbone to my career as a Nurse Practitioner. My first three years were in the Kidney Transplant Program where I worked primarily as a outpatient nurse practitioner taking care of patients after their kidney transplant as well as kidney donors. While also working with patients in outpatient clinic, I was also a member of the kidney transplant multidisciplinary team and evaluated patients for candidacy for renal transplantation. I developed leadership skills after becoming the lead NP and training new nurses and NPs. As an acute care NP by education, I felt the drive to work inpatient and cardiology was a particular interest I had. My dream job just so happened to be 3 floors above me and I got recommended to apply for an inpatient heart failure NP job. For the past 7 years I have worked on the advanced heart failure unit and manage pre and post heart transplant patients, LVAD, and patients on inotropic support. I have expertise managing pulmonary artery catheters, surgical drains, and complex wounds. I have also functioned as the clinical care manager on our unit and oversee admissions, discharges, transfers, and any acute medical issues on the floor.
