I am a partner in Reed Smith’s Life Sciences Health Industry Group, where I advise health care and life sciences companies, private equity sponsors, and their portfolio companies on regulatory compliance, government investigations, and transactions. My practice is grounded in firsthand government experience — as Senior Counsel and Team Leader at HHS OIG, where I led enforcement activities across the Boston, Miami, Dallas, and San Francisco regional offices, and as a DOJ attorney selected for the Attorney General’s Honors Program and appointed as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney. In those roles, I handled False Claims Act matters focusing on Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law violations, Medicare and Medicaid fraud, and off-label marketing cases. That perspective directly informs how I advise and defend clients today.A significant focus of my practice involves advising private equity sponsors throughout the full life cycle of their healthcare investments — from initial platform formation and regulatory due diligence through add-on acquisitions, operational compliance, and exit.On the enforcement and defense side, I have successfully defended health care and life sciences organizations in high-stakes FCA litigation and government investigations, achieving outcomes that include a reduction of an $8 million Medicare overpayment determination to under (with the government paying back approximately in interest to the provider), multiple DOJ declinations, and a negotiated OIG resolution on behalf of a PE Sponsor that came in nearly $10 million below the government’s original proposal. My broader client base includes Fortune 100 corporations, global pharmaceutical and orthopedics companies, hospitals and health systems, DME suppliers, digital health and digital therapeutics companies, long-term care providers, and specialty pharmacies.I have been a frequent speaker at national conferences — including the AHLA Fraud & Compliance Forum and the HCCA Healthcare Enforcement Compliance Conference — and I regularly publish on enforcement trends through Reed Smith’s Health Industry Washington Watch blog. I've also been featured in PE Hub, Politico, and Bloomberg Law. I have been recognized on the Thomson Reuters Stand-Out Lawyers list (2025–2026), a distinction based entirely on feedback from senior in-house counsel. Earlier in my career, I served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso, West Africa, teaching science in French in a remote village — an experience that continues to shape how I approach complex problems on behalf of clients.
