About Brian Blair

I began my career in HR after spending seven years in education (six in higher education) with an emphasis on student programs, academic advising, co-ops/internships, and career development. I was fortunate enough to find my way into Talent Acquisition/Recruiting - specifically leading, guiding, and developing student co-op/internship programs within industry. Having the "outsider's" view from working in this same capacity in education contributed to my ability to take the needs of the company to mold and shape them to be a best fit for the needs of the student. I later moved into Compensation and began to learn more about job architecture, benchmarking, and compensation methodologies - and how all of these contribute to company growth and people strategy. I took that knowledge back to student programs again before being promoted to the role of Talent Acquisition Manager/Compensation Analyst, and now as the Director of Talent, Compensation, and Organizational Development for Zippo Manufacturing Company. While I didn't find my way into Human Resources right out of school, I feel strongly that I found it at just the right time.
