Background
About Brian Bolen
Design is a very important part of software development. Just as much as the code hidden inside. It's the aspect of any piece of software the user spends the most time with. I spent more than 20 years in the graphic design field working on screen printing, sublimation, marketing artwork, and more. I am able to create effective artwork for any need. But, I have always loved the coding aspect as well. I have married them together not only to follow the love of development but bring fluid UI/UX to the users of the software I work on and work on an element until its right. Beyond UI/UX, I find myself striving to tackle any needed technology to complete a task. If there is a need for a new technology in a project, I'm not afraid to dive in and find a solution that fits. I love efficiency in code and finding the proper avenues of a language to remove repetitive entries or clunky logic. Because of this lack of fear, I find myself with a varying skill set. In software field, I started with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. I continued on from there to learn Angular and React. At work, I found myself in a sea of different languages requiring work done to them. I've worked quite a bit with.Net Core 7 and Blazor, some Nextjs, PHP due to Wordpress, ASP.NET webforms, VB.Net and a few others. I also found myself in infrastructure lands requiring something better to host websites on other than what was currently being used. I developed and implemented the Docker system at work which includes backing up persistent volumes with bash scripts and cron jobs for a fast redeploy when an issue arises. I now find myself trying to stream line and structure the department by bringing in technologies like Figma in to speed up the design portion of the development life cycle and make processes easier by alleviating design work from developers.
