About Brian Borsics

Since 2006, I have been teaching private instrumental music lessons to children and adults in New York City with a degree in Music Education from the Northwestern State University in Louisiana. My student roster is populated with as many as 22 students at a time of varying interest and skill levels, from casual music-makers to working, professional musicians. I have successfully designed and implemented my own pedagogical methods and lesson plans and leaned heavily on the use of technology in music education; I continued teaching lessons into the pandemic, transitioning to all-virtual lessons taught from my Brooklyn apartment. I recently made a change by buying and moving into a beautiful, one hundred-year old Colonial in Black Rock, CT, on which I also enjoy working. Before I made teaching my sole occupation, I managed the largest acoustic instrument sales department in the country at Guitar Center's flagship storefront in Union Square, Manhattan for nearly five years where my responsibilities included inventory management, sales staff leadership, organizing and facilitating promotional events, creative problem-solving, customer service, scheduling, and general retail-readiness. While I intend to keep working with the virtual students I've retained through quarantine, I am also eager to branch into new endeavors involving public/private school music education, musical instrument sales and/or production, product representation, music performance, and customer service. Additional skills I have acquired over my years in NYC include sailing, sailboat repair/outfitting/restoration, and electric vehicle engineering. See: Projects, below.
