About Brian Butcher

I have spent several years working various roles in the Federal Government. Most of that time was spent in Property Management. I held several roles including Lead Property Manager, Supervisory Property Manager and most recently a Facilities Management Branch Manager. Certifications I achieved include Contracting Officer Representative Level and Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers. Utilizing the skills I learned, I managed custodial and O&M contracts for a 1.4 million square foot office building and a 1.4 million square foot courthouse, respectively. I also ran small facility repair projects for several high-profile customers including the U.S. District Courts. Utilizing project management and problem solving skills, I effectively served on project teams at several prominent federal buildings in Chicago's central business district during major renovation and construction project. I successfully coordinated project work to ensure minimal impact to federal tenants during major curtain wall and plaza repairs at the Chicago Federal Complex. As a federal property manager, I often balanced adhering to the needs of my customers with ensuring the day-to-day operational aspects of the building were completed. Throughout my years I also experienced instances of unexpected property damage and system failures, which I effectively mitigated through quick action and problem solving. As a Supervisor, I've led several high-performing teams to great success. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led my property management team through challenging and uncertain circumstances while effectively coordinating cleaning efforts in response to COVID-19 incidents. My property management teams were consistently among the highest in Chicago in terms of executing small projects and utilizing our full operations budget. Most recently as a branch manager in our programs division, I led a diverse group of program managers in shaping operational and support guidance for property managers in our region. My team advised on mechanical and custodial practices as well as proper contract administration and lease management. We also worked on a national water quality management initiative to test and mitigate contaminants in our water systems. Over the years I have consistently motivated teams to achieve high results while building comradery and fostering collaborative teams.
