About Brian Carrillo

With over 40 years of experience in the commercial building industry, I’ve built my career around a deep commitment to expansion joint systems and specialty building products. As the former President and Founder of Encore Building Products and publisher of Joint-Tek, I’ve spent decades supporting contractors, architects, and design professionals with tailored solutions that deliver performance, precision, and long-term value. Now, as the National Business Development Manager – Expansion Joint Systems at Nystrom, I’m proud to help lead a national effort to grow and support one of the most critical areas of building performance. In this role, I partner closely, internal partners, inside and outside sales teams, regional managers, and our rep network to deliver high-quality expansion joint solutions across commercial, civic, infrastructure, and open-air parking projects. I bring a service-before-self philosophy to everything I do—offering design assistance, guiding specification development, consulting on early-stage planning, and helping ensure every project benefits from the right system, properly applied. I believe that building strong relationships is just as essential as delivering the right product. Over the years, I’ve developed a reputation for being a hands-on, practical problem-solver with expertise in seismic joints, waterproofing systems, and architectural detailing. From estimating and pricing to plan review and on-site support, I understand how to navigate complex construction environments with confidence and clarity. Beyond my professional work, I remain active in community development and advocacy, serving as Vice President of the Santa Ynez Valley Citizens Council and contributing to organizations such as the Rotary Club of Solvang and the Santa Ynez & Solvang Chamber of Commerce.
