Background
About Brian Childs
Currently, I am Head of SEO at CoinDesk. Coindesk.com saw growth in visitors from search, Google Discover and Google News despite -25% drop in search interest in crypto and a 50% reduction in editorial staff during the same time period. At Fortune, we turned around a 22 month decline in Google search traffic. Six months after starting, Fortune.com tied its best month in search traffic ever. I developed several new tools internally for RSS generation and revisited agreements with distribution partners. Previously, I worked as the SEO Content Marketing Product Manager. In this role, I created new business project proposals, manage a ~$1M content and outreach budget, and oversaw the creation of websites by SEO marketing companies through the sites ranking at the top of Google search results. In this role, my focus was on SEO marketing, business strategy, negotiations and contract creation. Previously, I was the Product Manager for 2U. I created and managed projects involving keyword search research, content creation, visual design, user experience, SEO, conversion rate optimization, website production, analytics and outreach (social media, PR and link building). I oversaw a team of six people and was responsible for overseeing their projects and training them on a variety of tools such as Google Analytics, BrightEdge, Buzzstream, Moz, Optimizely and Google AdWords Keyword Planner. Before working at 2U, I was the Site Operations Manager at ComicsAlliance.com. I worked with ad sales, promotion, affiliate marketing and our development team as well as produced editorial content and assisted with recruiting and managing the staff. As of January 2011, ComicsAlliance became the largest comic book journalism site in the U.S. according to comScore. I worked at Asylum.com for three years. Starting Asylum as half of a two person editorial staff I wrote and edited posts, shot and edited photographs and video, developed innovative ways for improved audience integration, created traffic exchange agreements with over 60 websites and brought in new employees. Four months after our launch we became one of the largest men's lifestyle websites on the Internet averaging 5 million unique visitors and over 100 million page views per month.Specialties: Project management, business strategy, negotiation, working across departments, managing remote employees, social media, talent recruiting, creating viral content, developing editorial ad sales packages
