About Brian Coate

Brian Coate is the Vice President of Electric and Fiber Systems for the Tullahoma Utilities Authority. His responsibilities include the safe and efficient operation of the electric distribution system for the city of Tullahoma, Tennessee. He also is responsible for the Fiber-to-the-home deployment, which provides telecommunications services (phone, video, and data) to the residents of Tullahoma via a passive fiber optic network. A native of northern Indiana, Brian graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, Indiana in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a minor in computer science. In early 2009 he completed his technical M.B.A from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. His career began with Cinergy (now Duke Power) as an Industrial Power Engineer until 1993, where he continued his career with two electric cooperatives in Indiana until coming to Tullahoma Utilities Board at the end of 2003. Brian currently resides in Tullahoma with his wife, Melanie. His hobbies include horseback riding, golfing, camping, hiking, flying, volleyball, travel, and geo-caching. Brian is a licensed amateur radio operator and private pilot. Mr. Coate is a registered professional engineer in Indiana and Tennessee, is LEED AP certified, and is a member of and NSPE.
