About Brian Covey

My work as a high school administrator is student-centered and equity-driven: I am committed to achieving equitable outcomes for all students, with a particular focus on students who have been historically marginalized. The “why” that informs my work and life is the desire to remake the systems and structures that have contributed to inequitable outcomes for many students. To that end, I am highly visible and responsive to the needs of students and staff, and I work to be a listening leader who is empathetic and supportive, developing collaborative relationships with stakeholders that are built upon a foundation of respect and trust. As an instructional leader, I am committed to building and sustaining learning environments that provide opportunities for our students to think critically, collaborate with their peers to creatively solve problems, and embrace the value of learning from mistakes. I have extensive and varied experience leading teacher teams in developing strong PLC teams to guide continued school-wide instructional improvement. I have extensive experience supporting teachers in developing proficiency in working together in high-functioning teams that are focused on student achievement. I work with teachers to develop student-centered instructional practices and clear, transparent, and evidence-based assessment and grading practices that support student learning and foster equitable outcomes in the classroom.
