About Brian Dempsey

I am trained as a biochemist and have studied protein structure, function, and interactions using biophysical techniques. I am also an experienced university lecturer and I have delivered university biochemistry courses from 2nd year to 4th year (and graduate level). Currently I am an Assistant Professor in the Biochemistry Department at Western University. As a Research Scientist my research focused on protein biochemistry - identifying and analyzing Protein-Protein interactions, conformations, and mechanisms. Specifically, I am an expert at biophysical analysis of proteins. I enjoy teaching and have extensive experience developing and delivering specialized biochemistry lectures and labs. I have also worked on many aspects of Synthetic Biology, especially advising and mentoring iGEM teams. I am excited by science and I want to know how and why things work the way they do. I especially enjoy the challenge of lecturing and teaching advanced scientific concepts.
