Background
About Brian Edens
I have worked for the last 5 years as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor Intern practicing under clinical supervision, and a Certified Family Support Specialist for Volunteer Behavioral Health Care Systems. I am currently embedded on the treatment team at Sumner County Recovery Court in Gallatin TN. I deliver clinical substance use treatment services to a diverse population of criminal justice involved individuals, and their families. These services include but are not limited to intake, assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, individual, group, and family counseling, case management, referrals, and consultation. I am a member of the Tennessee Association of Recovery Court Professionals, and served on the board of directors for the Recovery Court of Sumner County Inc. 501(c)3, and the TARCP conference Planning Committee. I was a presenter at the 2021 TARCP State Conference. During my time as a member of the Recovery Court board of Directors, I assisted in writing, and implementing grant awards from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. TCORS II Reentry Program in 2020, Family Centered Services in Adult Recovery Courts 2020, and Creating Homes Initiative II in 2023. These grant awards total over one million dollars. I hold a Family Support Specialist Certification from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, and am perusing a Licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. I was nominated by my peers and awarded "Innovative Program of the Year" for the Celebrating Families program at the Nami State Conference in 2022. I have strong skills in program development and implementation, policy and procedure, grant award administration, clinical case and treatment planning, and clinical documentation.
