Background
About Brian Ford
I am a proud fourth generation of law enforcement, along with my brother who is a fellow LEO at another agency. I had many great experiences and opportunities during my time on patrol before transferring to the Detective Bureau in the summer of 2010. I had even more opportunities and experiences with that position, including the ability, several times, to work on and supervise both surface and undercover operations and physical and electronic surveillance teams while on loan as a Task Force Officer on a county special enforcement unit. The fellow LEO and prosecutorial contacts I made during my times there have proved invaluable during my career. After receiving promotions to Sgt. and Lt, I stayed in the Detective Bureau continuing to supervise and hopefully have been successfully lending years of experience to young/new Detectives. Though I believe nothing beats putting on your uniform and being on patrol, and I miss that. I value my time on the executive board of our county Detectives' Association and belong to many professional groups/organizations. I am a huge believer in intelligence gathering and sharing and enjoy having opportunities to do that. The training I have been afforded and requested during my career has been extensive, and more than I ever imagined when starting this career. They have all contributed to my well-roundedness in this job. I work at a great agency in a great community, and I find it sad more people either can't or won't say the same about their agency. I am happy to have the ability to be a Public Information Officer, being able to showcase our agency's successes while strengthening bonds with our community members through effective communications. I enjoy giving back my knowledge to those interested in future criminal justice careers and I'm generally just interested in trying to make our future leaders and decision-makers just a little more informed, so I took a job as an adjunct professor. I have taught several different types of classes, but my favorites are certainly those involving/surrounding criminal law, investigations, and policing in general. I have a great appreciation for stoicism and subscribing to the philosophy has helped relieve me of stress while becoming more calm, neutral, and balanced in my position as a supervisor. On the side, I started to enjoy reading, mostly about history, our founding fathers, Constitutional law, leadership, and personal development.
