About Brian Hammond

I'm a highly experienced Broadcast Engineering Professional bilingual in both English and Japanese. My Japanese level is more daily conversational rather than Japanese business-professional, can read and write hiragana and katakana but bad with kanji. I have experience in designing and building Broadcast Channel Origination Automation systems. I helped build the original automation system for U.S. Naval Base in Yokosuka (CFAY), helped launched Toon Disney for Walt Disney Channel Japan while working for Technicolor. While at Imagine Communications (formerly Harris then Harris Broadcast) I helped design, build and commission automation systems (D-Series) for SkyPerfecTV, S-NET, FOX International Channels Japan, Disney Channel Japan, Jupiter TV, BBTV, SkyVision as well as several other sites in Taiwan (Fox Taiwan, PTS, CHT, CTV, CTS, USTV, Formosa TV) and Hong Kong (Fox Hong Kong, TVB and i-Cable). I also held customer training sessions, logged customer bugs and liaised with R&D in getting those fixed. During my first month at Vizrt I was the on-site person to help deliver our studio automation system (Mosart) at NHK during COVID since it wasn’t possible to fly engineers into Japan. Due to my interested in AWS I was asked to help test and design our upcoming cloud solution which would eventually be called Viz Now. I created several training and demo videos for our customers and sales teams. I worked with R&D to help test bugs and upcoming solutions for AWS and Viz Now. I am self-motivated, work well under pressure and with little or no supervision and have the ability to build and motivate broadcast engineering teams. I have experience in both live studio and material-based broadcast channel origination. I have a passionate interest in television and the engineering that enables this incredibly powerful medium.
