About Brian Hand

Brian is cultivating a passion for exploring the role of the Circular Economy in construction from an academic and praxis lens, and its implications in shaping future spaces and places. Having graduated in Architecture with Distinction from University College Cork, and earned a BSc in BIM (Digital Construction) from TU Dublin, his work has been exhibited at the Architecture at the Edge Festival, 2023, has presented at a number of academic conferences, and has been published in the Architecture Ireland Journal. Professionally, he has worked for Allard Architecture and Elephant Studio in Amsterdam, and is currently an architectural graduate based in Dublin undertaking the RIAI/OPW graduate training scheme, and working on the National Centre for Research and Remembrance. The sense of working with existing structures, collaboration and mediation filtered into Brian’s Master's thesis research, reading the island landscape through its existing pre-Christian and Christian era structures to reveal post-Christian sites, unearthing latent geometries of the island body through a lens of literary, historical and philosophical thinking. Throughout the year-long study, Brian has developed a range of research strengths culminating in a strong academic interest in spatial theory and application.
