About Brian Harms

Leveraging my unique background in Architecture and Robotics, as well as a decade at Samsung Research America's Think Tank Team as a Senior Staff Research Engineer, I've dedicated my professional life to meaningfully advancing user experiences, products, and services for people. My studies in Design Research at the Southern California Institute of Architecture have enabled me to integrate emerging technologies like robotic arms for designers into creative processes. My efforts span advanced robotics, VR & AR, IoT and other smart technologies, enhancing Samsung’s offerings across Mobile, Visual Displays, and Digital Appliances. I've led projects that improved our product lines, emphasizing rapid ideation, prototyping, and testing. My contributions have led to numerous patents and presentations at industry events such as CES, IFA, and SXSW, and exhibitions in venues like the Ars Electronica Center and the Pompidou Centre. I've expanded and honed my broad skillset through Cal Poly’s B.Arch program and SCI-Arc's Robot House, working with Griffin Enright Architects, and consulting for companies including Airbnb and Volkswagen. These experiences have shaped me into a versatile professional committed to impactful results. Passionate about creating products that improve quality of life, I value teamwork and open communication, enjoying collaboration with others who use design as a transformative tool. My career is dedicated to continuous learning, innovation, and leadership in technology and design, aiming to make a meaningful difference with practical and innovative solutions.
