About Brian Hester

For the past 23 years he has managed and/or participated in studies catered toward evaluating the effect of waters, sediments, and soils to receptor organisms. He directs a team of seasoned technical staff that can conduct a wide range of standardized and project-specific test methodologies to meet the varying needs of our clients. As a project manager for numerous evaluations of potential dredged materials or site characterizations from ports and waterways around the nation, Brian assists stakeholders in appropriately interpreting test results and understanding the contribution of potential contaminant and non-contaminant stressors. He is an expert in marine, estuarine, and freshwater toxicological evaluations (waters and sediment). He has also performed Toxicity Identification Evaluations (TIE) in addition to toxicity-testing methods development. Focus areas include: • Sediment Management (Dredged Material Evaluations, Site Characterizations, Remedial Investigations/Feasibility Studies [RI/FS], Sediment Toxicology)• Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) testing under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)• Toxicity Identification Evaluation (TIE) and Toxicity Reduction Evaluation (TRE)• Proficient at applying and developing test methodologies established under USEPA, USACE, ASTM, Standard Methods, and OECD• Stormwater monitoring, urban runoff, and wet weather event evaluations• Environmental/ecological risk assessment (ERA) support
