As a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon, I offer 30+ years of experience in private practice and hospital settings. With expertise in transcatheter valve therapies, I have collaborated to perform research, published 17 articles in peer-reviewed journals, led studies for Medtronic Corporation and Edwards Life Sciences as the principal investigator, and presented at national and global conferences. I have often been sought to advise on implementing minimally invasive surgical techniques in community-based hospitals.In addition, I have raised millions of dollars for nonprofit and private institutions and healthcare-related startup companies and gained knowledge in patent law, helping win enforcement cases. Leveraging my administration and HR experience and leadership of diverse entities, I create aligned goals and apply a humanistic approach to solving problems, while addressing financial, legal, and ethical implications.A few of my career highlights include:Acquired board experience as a member of a hospital board for a publicly-traded company, as an advisory board member for a life sciences company, and as board chairman for a private college-prep school.Elected president of the Florida Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons and served as a medical expert for the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration and member of the Medical Executive Committee for a regional hospital system.Appointed managing partner of a cardiothoracic practice with 9 physicians, 2 locations, and top-line revenue of ~$20M, chaired the surgery department for a 460-bed hospital, and served as a governing board member for a large multispecialty clinic.Developed and secured funding for the Lee Health System Structural Heart Program, working closely with the hospital board, administrators, and physicians to position the hospital as a leader in performing catheter-based aortic valve replacements.My Leadership StyleAs a collaborative and hands-on leader, I value the opinions and perspectives of others and enjoy dealing directly with people and problems.
