About Brian Ikkanda

I am an associate professor of chemistry currently transitioning into data science. Utilizing the experience and methodology I have gained in chemical biology research and education, I want to expand my skills to this growing field. Therefore, I am learning new skills in programming and data visualization.In my past research projects, I have utilized my skills in synthetic organic chemistry to construct molecules that can be incorporated into DNA. I have had to use various analytical techniques to confirm the synthesis and properties of new molecules. As an educator, I have loved the experience of teaching and learning alongside college students in the classroom as well as in the research laboratory.Throughout my previous career experiences, I have learned that questions can be way more valuable than answers and that the key to progress is being able to ask good questions. I hope to synthesize my past experiences in chemistry and education to my developing skills in data science.
