About Brian Jones

Brian studied signal transduction and cell biology while earning a PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Rochester. He used mouse genetics to study learning and memory during his postdoctoral research at the University of Washington. Brian joined BioFire Defense in 2016 where he became the lead scientist managing all clinical investigations. The BioFire Global Fever Panel, which detects infectious pathogens that cause acute fever (e.g, malaria, Zika, West Nile virus, Ebola), was evaluated at eleven sites around the world, including public/private hospitals and US military laboratories; this investigation contributed to the FDA granting De Novo marketing authorization of the BioFire Global Fever Panel as the first-ever PCR-based test for the simultaneous detection of the most common acute fever-causing pathogens. Brian also managed clinical investigations of the BioFire COVID-19 Test, which received EUA in March 2020 and was the first single-target SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic to receive full marketing authorization via the 510(k) pathway. Brian joined Exact Sciences in 2022 as a Clinical Development Scientist. Brian brings seventeen years of biomedical research, including five years of IVD clinical research experience, to advance Exact's vision to eradicate cancer and the suffering it causes through tests that detect it earlier and provide guidance for successful treatment.
