About Brian Kuchar

I am an experienced litigator and public policy professional with experience in both the public and private sectors. As a lawyer, I have worked in a Bay Street corporate law environment, and spent several years at a civil litigation boutique. I have independently prepared Statements of Defence and motion records, argued contested matters at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and represented clients at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. As a public policy professional, I have worked with senior bureaucrats to advise Ontario cabinet ministers on a range of policy issues, with particular focus on human rights, labour and employment, and access to justice. I have drafted legislation, prepared briefing materials, and sat as a member of a government bargaining team tasked with negotiating a new province-wide contract with a large public sector union. I have also built and maintained stakeholder relationships with dozens of organizations that operate within the justice and public policy sectors. During my legal education I took a course load focused heavily on advocacy. In addition to receiving numerous honours as a result of my participation in several competitive moots, I achieved outstanding results in courses such as Legal Research and Writing, Civil Trial Practice, Evidence, Contract Law, Property Law, Tort Law, Law and Religion and Entertainment Law.
