About Brian McDermott

I enjoy clinical medicine. My clinical interests include FUO (Fever of Unknown Origin), Legionella pneumonia, and arthropod infections, excluding Borrelia. My goals include contributing to the development of sustainable healthcare systems in my region. As this relates to Infectious Diseases, I work to align my practice with my partner hospitals through clinical practice, education and stewardship to improve patient care quality and responsibly use antibiotics to minimize overall costs of care. On a larger scale, I am interested in leading physician practice development that couples physician autonomy with physician accountability in order to achieve greater value in our healthcare system. I believe meaningful population health management that simultaneously delivers actionable, real-time or near real-time information to both providers and institutions is the best solution to achieving sustainable change in our healthcare environment.
