About Brian McEwan

I am a Precambrian geologist with a strong background in structural geology and bedrock mapping. I was educated at the University of Regina where I obtained my Bachelors of Science with Honours as well as my Masters of Science in Geology. My education during my undergraduate years benefited from working as a geological assistant for four field seasons with the Saskatchewan Geological Survey (Saskatchewan Ministry of the Economy) with the latter two years working as an independent geological bedrock mapper. I continued to build my knowledge and skills through my graduate studies which focused on understanding the structural setting and history of complexly deformed Precambrian terrains and the effects and controls of ore mineralization in the vicinity of the Kiggavik uranium deposit and the Thelon Basin in Nunavut, Canada. My experience in bedrock mapping has primarily been focused on improving the context of the basement rocks with respect to uranium or gold mineralization. After my graduate studies, I applied my knowledge and skills in the gold and uranium sectors. I have geologically mapped critical areas in detail, identifying significant targets, and developed structural models during my time at Claude Resources (now Silver Standard Resources). My geological mapping and modelling skills have been complemented by core logging and integrating a variety of data within different GIS platforms. Additionally, the geological, structural, and geochemical modelling of NexGen Energy’s Arrow deposit has given me further insights into the resource sector and their demands, challenges, and requirements. Owing to a prior background and interest in computer science, I'm also experienced in the creation and management of databases, focused on Microsoft Access and SQL Server. My programming skills enable me to solve complex problems and create front-end user interfaces to allow all users easy access to data in a variety of formats in addition to connecting to various GIS platforms.
