Hello! My name is Brian and I am a passionate information security advocate looking for my next career opportunity. After 15 years of managing all the IT needs of our business, including procurement, configuration and maintenance, I enjoyed it so much that I decided cybersecurity was going to be my new focus. In pursuit of that goal, I completed the challenging Springboard cybersecurity program, which helped me establish a tremendous base of knowledge and matched me with a mentor who works in the industry and was available to answer my many questions throughout the course. We have remained in touch and I am very grateful for his inspirational guidance. Following the course I applied that knowledge by passing the CompTIA Security+ exam on my first attempt.While I engage in my InfoSec job search, I continue to develop my skills by continuing my education on Hack the Box Academy and TryHackMe. I also attend monthly meetups of NoCo Hackers, a group of cybersecurity and IT professionals who gather each month to discuss relevant topics and current events. This is an amazing group of people who have welcomed me as an aspiring cybersecurity professional and encouraged me every step of the way. Recently I accepted a contract position working as a Data Center Cable Technician for Direct Line Global/ Microsoft. While this is not the IT Security position I am seeking permanently, I saw this as another opportunity to add skills and so far it has exceeded my expectations in that regard. In a very short amount of time I have gained valuable knowledge about how a large scale data center is constructed and its purpos. My job there requires strict attention to detail as we follow technical configuration specifications for hundreds of enterprise servers. What I want prospective employers to know about me is that I am a relentless lifelong learner who is never satisfied with my education or skills. If I am not consistently adding to those I feel I am falling behind. I am ultra reliable and already possess the professional communication and leadership skills that many who are new to the workforce may not. My hope is to match with an organization that sees value in my somewhat unconventional experience. I assure you that I am ready to prove myself in this new career adventure!
