About Brian Ngetich

Nature fascinates me so much, the size of the universe for instance, the size of an atom, how electricity even works! Sounds like magic, right? I've always been curious, with an insatiable need to understand how things work. In my quest for knowledge, I ended up having lots of e-books and PDFs. I needed a way of organizing such a huge collection of books in a much neater manner, and that's where I created my first ever program. Unlike most developers, the first programming language was VBA (Visual Basic for applications) specifically for Microsoft access. And my first ever line of code was to print,'It works!'. There's nothing that rivals that first joy of making something do exactly what you want. And that's the story of how I learned to program, out of necessity to solve a problem I had. Since then, I have grown my skills and have ventured into other aspects of computing such as cloud, distributed systems, visualization systems and natural simulations etc. I can't get enough of programming, it excites every part of me and I get to learn so much from coding, no matter how small it seems. It allows me to test my creativity, and sharpen my problem-solving skills. Moreover, over the years I have gotten to interact with other people of my kind and share knowledge with them, and vice versa. It has allowed me to appreciate technologies that we take for granted today, such as Wi-Fi. I love putting my skills to use when exploring new ideas, and watching your creations coming to life sort of makes me feel like Dr. Frankenstein and his computer -). I'm and avid learner and like challenging myself to push above the norm and to dig deeper than the answer, to ask the how? and why? This curiosity has allowed me to learn more about so many aspects of computing and has pushed me to look even into other fields of computing such as cloud technology, theoretical analysis of algorithms, and data structures. Even today in the industry I'm still driven to learn more and in turn use the knowledge I have gained to deliver high quality work, above all whenever I get a chance to share what I have learned I will surely do so. I hope to someday venture further into academia and maybe even do something great for humanity, after all, it’s only fair to leave the world better than we found it.
