About Brian Nigus

Brian Nigus is an artist, writer and Curator for the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum. Most recently, he received his BS in Mathematics Secondary Education from Western Governor’s University in 2021 and was a public school educator from 2016-2022. He received his BFA in Sculpture from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2011 where he completed the Studio Art program at The Burren College of Art in Ireland and apprenticed for Atelier Van Lieshout in The Netherlands. He was an artist in residence in Beijing, China where he received his degree in Chinese Language Studies from the Communication University of China and helped develop the Rainbow School of Art for K-12 students. He co-founded/directed Present Works Art Gallery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and prior to that, was taught Tok Pisin by the Sawiyano Tribe of Papua New Guinea during documentary film work. His artwork has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, including the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Center in Ireland, the 798 Art Zone in Beijing and Interview Room 11 in Edinburgh.
