Brian Norton is a seasoned HVAC professional with over 25 years of experience in the commercial HVAC industry. He began his career in the late 1990s as an apprentice and quickly advanced to Commercial HVAC Service Technician, excelling in diagnostics and repairs before transitioning to operations management in 2010. Over the years, Brian has developed deep expertise in Building Automation Systems and has played a key role in driving operational growth.In 2023, Brian was approved by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) as an instructor for EMC's in-house apprenticeship Related Technical Instruction (RTI) program, further demonstrating his commitment to workforce development and education in the skilled trades.Drawing from his extensive field experience and understanding of the challenges facing Virginia tradespeople, Brian founded CodeUpdateRVA.com in 2025 - a continuing education platform designed specifically for busy contractors. The platform offers DPOR-approved online courses for HVAC, Plumbing, and Gas-Fitting professionals, built by someone who understands the demands of working in the trades.Beyond his technical background, Brian is an active leader in the Richmond Chapter of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers). He has served in multiple leadership roles, including Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and Chairman of the Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC), and currently serves as Chapter President. His contributions have supported the advancement of HVAC technology and best practices throughout the Richmond region.Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Data Analysis from Liberty University. He also carries several professional credentials, including Virginia Master Mechanical, Plumbing, and Gas-Fitter licenses, as well as OSHA 30 and EPA Universal certifications. He is currently a Senior Project Salesman at EMC Mechanical Services, where he delivers customized commercial HVAC solutions that align with client goals and ensure long-term performance.
