About Brian Otoole

I am currently working at Paratus Sciences, a biotech startup developing human therapeutics through the lens of bat biologyPrior to this position I was working in the Vertebrate Genome Lab at Rockefeller University, largely focusing on long read sequencing and Hi-C, and RNA sequencing for use in de novo assembly and annotation. Before that, I received my Master's degree from Fordham University concentrating in Conservation Biology and Genomics. My research was conducted at the American Museum of Natural History working with archival bat and crocodile samples and NGS genomic data.Prior to pursing my graduate degree I was a Museum Specialist in the Mammalogy Department at the AMNH. Before my tenure at the museum I graduated from Cornell University with a BS degree in Biology concentrating in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.I have extensive experience in museum sampling and organization as well as in mammalian genetics and bioinformatic processing of NGS samples. I also have experience in field work, preparing samples, and in scientific writing. My ultimate goal is to fuse all of my experiences and work toward a research scientist career.
