About Brian Piontek

Brian Piontek is a skilled environmental scientist, biologist, and permitting specialist with experience in both physical processes and biological resources. In this way, Brian is rare in his ability to integrate environmental analysis of both physical and biological conditions. Brian leads the biological services team for Horizon Water and Environment and has successfully managed and/or completed 100+ environmental technical studies, special status species investigations, or environmental compliance surveys. Brian is experienced with field sampling, biological monitoring, stream surveys, wetland delineations, sediment analysis, topographic and bathymetric surveys, and Phase I environmental site assessments. He is also skilled at designing and deploying gauges and instruments to monitor biological resources, streamflow and stormwater, groundwater, water quality, and soil moisture. Brian routinely conducts field assessments to characterize baseline natural resources and evaluate post-project ecological and physical conditions. He has monitored many construction projects for environmental compliance including river, stream and wetland restoration projects; slope stabilization and stream maintenance projects; and infrastructure projects. Brian utilizes his experience to prepare regulatory permit applications and to conduct CEQA environmental analyses for geology, hydrology, biology, and other CEQA topics.
