Brian Reyes of San Antonio, Texas, is a Captain in the San Antonio Police Department and a City Councilman for Garden Ridge with over 20 years of public service experience. Known for his leadership in law enforcement and city government, Brian blends academic expertise with real-world problem-solving. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master’s and Doctorate in Criminal Justice from Texas State University, and an MBA from UTSA. Brian began his career with the San Antonio Police Department in 2001, rising through the ranks from Officer to Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and now Captain. He has led major divisions including Homicide, Internal Affairs, and Airport Operations, gaining deep expertise in crisis response, investigations, and interagency coordination. As Patrol Operations Commander, he oversees critical incidents, including officer-involved shootings, barricades, and major robberies. His leadership emphasizes community-first policing, servant leadership, and developing future leaders. Brian also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Texas State University and other institutions, teaching courses in leadership and criminal justice. He has led training academy programs and helped implement leadership development through the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Elected in May 2024, Brian serves Place 5 on the Garden Ridge City Council, contributing to budget planning, city projects, and civic engagement. He works to ensure transparency and align city services with resident needs. His approach merges operational knowledge with public accountability. Outside of his official roles, Brian is a devoted husband and father of four. He lives in Garden Ridge with his wife, Bobbie, and remains active in youth sports as a coach and league board member. He’s served on his church’s Pastoral Council and remains involved with organizations like the American Criminal Justice Association and the Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association. Brian's dedication has been recognized at the national level, including a nomination to assist on the Presidential Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice. His ongoing mission is to lead with integrity, inspire public trust, and champion community-focused service.
