Background
About Brian Roginski
For the past 7 years my role and focus have been centered around Business Intelligence where I have lead strategic initiatives building predominantly on the Microsoft stack including report development, ETL process', and SSAS Modeling. Over the past 4 years I have introduced a competency in SSAS Tabular across the organization and have lead development and delivery of multiple production deployments for flagship projects. After a few years developing BI solutions I convinced LM to invest in a Sharepoint BI Farm and lead the build out and drove adoption of Sharepoint BI as a collaborative Reporting portal and enabling platform for self-service BI when the concept was in its infancy (PowerView and PowerPivot). A few years later I was leading and administering the roll out of Power BI within our organization and played a key role in introducing Power BI throughout the org for self-service and operational reporting initiatives. The environment now includes over 10K active users and 100's of successfully deployed solutions. After seeing what self-service reporting and analytics could do I sought to simplify how data is delivered to keep up with the pace of demand for enterprise grade data delivery process' that come with self-service solutions. I introduced Data Virtualization into our data architecture as a service layer to simplify access to data across the organization, reduce the amount of physical integration required, and promote sharing, reuse, collaboration and discovery of organizational data assets. This was the first Data Virtualization platform built at Liberty Mutual and has since been incorporated into the data ecosystem for other business units. From that point forward I began experimenting with Azure Analytics and before I knew it was leading the migration of our entire corporate Legal infrastructure into the Azure platform including Data Factory for orchestration, Azure Analytics for ETL, Azure Data Lake and SQL DB for storage and Azure SSAS for modeling and reporting. Our team was able to move from entirely on-premise to 100% in the cloud within a year and a half during which time Azure for Analytics was entirely new to the organization. For the past year I have moved into a new role within the Claims Central Reporting group to lead reporting and analytics solution development using the Power BI platform. Invited to speak at the 2017 Microsoft Data Insights Summit: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-our-incredible-lineup-of-customer-stories-sessions-at-microsoft-data-insights-summit/
