About Brian Rohde

I graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor's of Arts in Geography in May 2014. I am knowledgable and passionate for maps and environmental conservation/sustainability. I am committed to use my computer skills and organizational skills learned in my academic coursework at Valparaiso U. and previous volunteer roles at Lake Katherine Nature Center and my ComEd Energy Force Ambassador role to prepare for a career relevant to my field. Specifically, I am interested in pursuing a career in urban planning or environmental conservation/sustainability. Also, I am strong advocator for raising disability awareness in the community. I completed my 2020 Disability Lead fellowship. The role of the Disability Lead Leadership program is to build civic leadership in individuals with disabilities through networking and teamwork, consistent with the Americans with Disabilties Act. The Disability Lead Program has enabled me advocate for disability rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society. As a previous fellow and now member, I am committed to strive for educating businesses to make accessibility and equal treatment a priority in terms of providing people with disabilities the resources and tools to be successful. I am also a Disability Awareness Player with the JJsList.com Disability Awareness Players. As a Disability Awareness Player, I engage with the community to educate businesses on appropriate ways to communicate and support individuals with disabilities in terms of inclusiveness and equality. The Disability Awareness Trainings are a step forward to changing with way individuals with disabilities are perceived in society. In addition, I previously gained customer service interaction and skills through my retail associate position at Mokena Meijer from 2017 to 2019. My experience working at Meijer has increasingly allowed me to excel in building strong communication skills. I am highly determined to utilize my skills obtained through my customer service experience to enhance organizational, written, and social skills.
