Background
About Brian Rowe
I have experience as a Head of Department/Curriculum Leader/Lecturer in Fabrication, Mechanical/Manufacturing and Welding, teaching from level 2 up to level 5, main areas Mathematics and Fabrication Techniques. Further responsibilities include, Anti Bullying Specialist and Course leader/Coordinator (12 staff) for, City & Guilds, BTEC, EAL and Apprenticeship programmes. Head of Department duties, also part of a team developing a new e-learning delivery package. Students include direct entry school leavers and mature students. Also ensure the service level agreements with Training Providers are maintained and adhered to. Assess all staff for their Continual Professional Development, and budget for their training needs. Conduct Individual Personal Performance targeting and identify how staff can development themselves. I oversee the operation of the colleges apprentice programme, also looking at further provision, for the Higher Apprenticeship I have recently completed a pilot for the provision of e-learning techniques, being actively involved in the creation and delivery of new e-learning packages, for delivery in the teacher training provision. To support my own personal development I completed via distance learning a BEng(Hons) Mechanical Graduated with a 1st Class Hons. I also work as an EQA for Pearson's level 4-7 Subject Matter Specialists for Ofqual as an Associate (independent contractor) for Engineering. This offers the chance to help shape and improve the quality of regulated qualifications and assessments, be involved in crucial pieces of work that will benefit apprentice and industry. Currently with some engineering apprenticeship standards being revised, I may have the opportunity to implement changes in skills development and assessment methods. I have travelled Worldwide and found meeting different and diverse cultures, to have had a major impact on the way I approach and work with people. This I must say has had the greatest influence on my long term outlook.
