I enjoy programming. For me its an outlet for my creative side. My opportunities to program have been varied but mainly on the lower level. Over my career I have done a significant amount of coding in Intel x86 assembly, C, C++, Perl, Python and Ruby. I have also programmed custom micro-controllers and EFI bios. I do admit that I prefer working with code at a higher level. Once you know how easy it is to multiply two numbers together in a higher level language, it feels like a step back to do fixed numeric multiplication using shift operators in a micro-controller. Each role I have had has presented new challenges whether it is learning how the operating system makes use of the architectural features of Intel core micro-processors to provide security, virtualization and device access or to manage a geographical diverse technical effort. It's not always easy but I find the challenge of completing hard assignments reward in itself. I have had the opportunity to learn quite a lot about Linux and its internals. I have also had a good deal of exposure to the Linux IPSec networking stack and the lower level connections of the networking stack to the NIC driver. I have helped develop EFI driver and application code for Intel's server platforms. It has been a very different experience working under the EFI build environment. In my current role I support Simics simulation platform validation. I have expanded my experience to developing and deploying web-server/client suites to CaaS. Every new challenge builds my skill set. Cheers, Brian
