About Brian Shaw

My current assignment is as a felony prosecutor and I supervise the Firearm, Gang and Narcotics division. It is a four man division. My caseload includes Child Pornography, Human Trafficking, Narcotics, Firearm and Gang related offenses. I have obtained convictions for first degree murder, predatory criminal sexual assault, domestic battery as well as narcotics offenses through jury trial, as well as commitments to the Illinois Department of Corrections for Sexually Dangerous Persons. I had the privilege to be employed by the Cook County State's Attorneys office, which is one of the largest prosecutorial agencies in the nation. I was assigned to the Cook County Children's Advocacy Center, reviewing sex offenses involving children and technology based cases,(child pornography), centered with the Illinois Crimes Against Children agency. I have had the honor to be an Assistant States Attorney in the downstate area of Illinois.(Specifically Macon County, IL (Decatur, IL)) In Coles County I was the lead prosecutor for all Domestic Violence and Sexual based offenses (Felony and Misdemeanor). In Macon County I was involved initially with the misdemeanor unit. Most prosecution was done by jury trial, with most of my experience with Domestic Violence. I then moved on to the Juvenile Unit. I was assigned to the Drug Unit as an Assistant/Second Chair, and lead the Child Pornography prosecution Unit. I was also the prosecutor for Drug Court Portion of the Macon County Hybrid Court, and handle other general felony prosecution including homicide cases. Completed training in Computer Forensic Tools - EnCase, EMule2K. I have been nominated by the Secret Service and attended training twice in Hoover, AL at NCFL. I feel privileged to be able to work for the citizen of the counties that I work or have worked in to obtain closure and justice for victims, and to help those defendants in non violent crimes where their drug addiction is the basis for their actions.
