I’ve made every mistake in the book during my professional CPA consulting career spanning 20+ years and I’m not shy about what I got wrong. The most important thing I have learned and developed over those years is that the right service delivery formula matters. There is more than enough “how to” consulting models available; they only get you so far. I’ve realized you must apply your own work to your craft to be successful. The ability to tell your story of what the outcome looks like on the other side of working together, alongside articulating the differentiated delivery process was my “a-ha” moment. This took many years of trial and error, but once matured, it resulted in significant practice growth, an easier practice to manage and happier clients. The best place to seek guidance is from the experienced; the ones that have seen it, done it and avoided it. In the current chapter of my career, I lead a group of experienced professionals that assists companies with Business Advisory, Fractional CFO and Accounting Services.
