About Brian Wee

I am a Rhodes Scholar, Samvid Scholar, and MD candidate at Harvard Medical School committed to strengthening health systems and advancing international cooperation at the intersection of medicine, policy, and governance. My journey has focused on bridging scientific research, public service, and global health strategy. I graduated from Harvard College with highest honors in Chemical and Physical Biology and Government, then completed both a Master of Public Policy and an MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy at the University of Oxford. My work has included research on CRISPR-based diagnostics, service as a student representative at Oxford, and a dissertation exploring how multilateral organizations and governments can collaborate for health system reform—drawing on interviews with leaders from the WHO and ministries of health in Latin America. Beyond research and academics, I’ve spearheaded impact-driven initiatives—such as founding the World Pre-Health Conference (with 3,300+ participants from over 100 countries), directing the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, and serving as Co-President of the Harvard Pre-Medical Society and Harvard Undergraduate Global Health Forum. While at Oxford, I interned with the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in its Strategy, Policy, and International Directorate; my policy recommendations were adopted into NICE’s long-term strategic plan. Looking forward, my goal is to blend clinical insight with practical policy, organizational leadership, and international partnerships. My focus is on advancing effective health governance and system reform to address the complex health challenges of our time.
