About Brian Williams

My background is in Biology where I was a microscopist in Neuroscience that included light, confocal and transmission electron microscopy.I transitioned from science to desktop support where I supported faculty with desktop issues. My interests grew and skills developed in the Information Technology field that eventually included audio visual support.I currently direct two teams at Tufts University within the central IT organization that includes Digital Productions which provides advanced services for video recording, video editing, DVD production and Live Web Streaming of events. The other team is Media Projects which provides AV installations for classrooms, conference rooms and larger installations.I enjoy leading great teams of talented individuals who have a "can do" attitude. They adapt very well to new technologies and run with them.I am always researching new technologies to make our support better to the University in the support of the academic mission.Specialties: Hardware and software problem solving, diagnosis and repairs of AV equipment and computers. AV design, project management and customer relations. My focus is to develop AV and Video technologies to make these services more available to the Tufts community.
