About Briana Smart

As a Senior Operations Advisor at Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), I have dedicated over five years to supporting Canadian Veterans and their families in accessing the benefits and services they deserve. In my current acting assignment with the Veterans Employment Unit, I collaborate with a dynamic team to advance key initiatives such as the National Veterans Employment Strategy and Career Transition Services, empowering veterans as they transition into civilian careers. My experience also includes a rewarding 10-week assignment as a Visitor Experience Officer with European Operations in France, where I enhanced the visitor experience at iconic historic sites such as the Beaumont Hamel Newfoundland Memorial and The Canadian National Vimy Memorial. I hold a BA in French Language and Literature and Psychology, as well as a Post-Secondary Certificate in Criminology from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Fluent in both English and French, I am adept at fostering communication and providing mentorship. I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Leadership at Trinity Western University, and I have been honoured with multiple academic scholarships and awards. Driven by a deep passion for serving and honouring veterans and their families, I am committed to continuous learning and growth, always striving to improve the services and support I provide.
