About Brianna Dizon

Currently, I am studying at The Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering for my MS in Applied Biomedical Engineering with a focus in Biomechanics. Previously, I graduated with my BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Within UMBC, I was also an affiliate for the Center of Women in Technology and the social chair of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. My education at UMBC has equipped me with the tools necessary to be a successful engineer. Along with my technical major of engineering, entrepreneurship has broadened my design process thinking with creative undertones that allow me to see the bigger picture of design and how to effectively place those products into the world. My education and projects have taught me how to manage my time efficiently while also teaching me many important skills including CAD and MATLAB. My experiences in different design and lab teams have made me a valuable team member as I have acquired the soft skills necessary to work well as a team and make meaningful contributions to my group as well as taking accountability for the work I do. In these group projects, I have overseen various tasks such as designing parts in CAD, analyzing them with FEM, and sawing materials with different machinery. Through my labs, I have gained the skills to write competent lab reports that are technical with easily replicable lab procedures. Finally, through my numerical methods class, I was able to learn how to properly use MATLAB through extensive projects and testing and have been able to carry the skills I have learned through each of my following classes through modeling and function creation. I constantly work to improve myself and see what I can do to assist others when put into a group environment and I am committed to finding solutions to any problem I encounter.
