About Brianna Elder

Within the food and nutrition realm, I have had ample jobs throughout college and as a young professional that have taught me invaluable skills. From a food service perspective, I have worked everywhere from a large local farm to a booming espresso bar/bistro to a successful, multiple location bakery- all as a sales associate, baker, and management intern. After graduating from Appalachian State University in 2017 with a Bachelor's of Science in Nutrition with a Dietetics concentration, I went on to complete an accredited 1200-hour dietetic internship with Priority Nutrition Care in Boston, MA. I completed lengthy rotations in all areas including clinical, community, food service, and outpatient dietetics. All of these rotations were major learning experiences as my preceptors were highly educated leaders in their field and were willing to teach a young professional. I got to see first hand the role of the clinical dietitian among the healthcare team, and participate myself in charting, education sessions, and team meetings. Throughout my community and outpatient rotations, the majority of my time was spent counseling alongside a Registered Dietitian in a cardiovascular rehabalitation center. Seeing her counsel a wide array of patients truly sparked an interest around counseling those that are motivated to lead a healthier lifestyle. My food service rotation was completed within a school food service system where I got to see every facet of school food service and how it was run on a local and state level. Upon passing the Registered Dietitian Exam, I will be a certified Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
